Moray Concert Brass was formed in 1992, with an initial membership of 20 the band has now grown to over 60 members. The band is made up of members from most of the High schools in Moray and a few of the Primaries. With ages ranging from 10 to 18, MCB have performed throughout the UK and Europe. To date they have toured to France, Germany, Austria and Italy. August 2012 will once again see the band travel to germany for a 12 day concert tour, the band will be staying in Wernigerode and also visiting the twin town of Forres, Vienenburg during the tour.
The band has also produced 6 recordings, the last one being “Pipin’ Hot Brass” which features the fantastic young piper Gavin Tulloch.
In 1998 the band won the “Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships” at their first attempt. This gained them entry to the “European Youth Championships” where they came a creditable 6th. The band in addition to contests and tours are also very active with numerous concerts throughout the local area and hold their annual “Carols at the Cathedral” on the last Wednesday before Christmas at Elgin Cathedral.
